Menopause & Perimenopause Care at Strathpine GP Superclinic
Supporting women through perimenopause and menopause
Hot flushes. Night sweats. Broken sleep, mood swings and brain fog. Perimenopause and menopause are a natural stage of life, but the symptoms can be disruptive, and they often change from month to month. If you are wondering whether what you are experiencing is normal, you are not alone.
Our experienced doctors provide evidence-based assessment and management at every stage of the transition, and will help you find what works for you. You are welcome to request a female doctor when booking.
We also offer the Medicare-recognised menopause and perimenopause health assessment. This is a dedicated, unhurried consultation that takes a structured look at your symptoms, your heart and bone health, your sleep and mood, and ends with a personalised plan for the years ahead. Just ask for it when you book.
Our menopause and perimenopause care includes:
Diagnosis of perimenopause and menopause, including early menopause
Menopausal Hormone Therapy (MHT), previously called Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), where clinically appropriate, with ongoing review
Non-hormonal options for hot flushes, sleep and mood
Long term health including bone health, heart health and preventive screening, with specialist referral where needed
Book online any day of the week (we are open 7 days) or call our friendly reception team on 07 3480 0111.
New patients are welcome, and our on-site pathology and pharmacy make it easy to get tests and prescriptions sorted in the one visit.

Perimenopause symptoms overlap with other conditions such as thyroid problems, iron deficiency and depression, so a proper assessment matters. Your GP can take a detailed history and arrange blood tests where needed to help work out what is going on.
-
MHT stands for Menopausal Hormone Therapy, the current name for what used to be called HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy). For most healthy women, MHT is a safe and effective treatment for menopausal symptoms, and current evidence is much more reassuring than the older headlines suggest. Your doctor will go through your personal and family history with you to work out whether it is right for you.

There are effective non-hormonal options for hot flushes, sleep and mood, along with lifestyle changes that make a real difference. Your GP can talk you through what is likely to help most for your symptoms.
-
It is different for every woman. Symptoms often start several years before periods stop and can continue for some years after. You do not need to wait it out, help is available at every stage.
-
No. Just book an appointment with one of our GPs, and you are welcome to request a female doctor. We recommend a longer appointment, and you can ask for the Medicare-recognised menopause health assessment when you book.
-
It is a dedicated, longer consultation with your GP. Together you will go through your symptoms, your heart and bone health, your sleep and mood, and any screening that is due, and you will leave with a personalised plan. Ask for it when you book.
